Canny is a CAN interface developed by Lazer Lamps that enables the installation of auxiliary lights for select vehicles with CAN communication systems where it is otherwise not possible to access 12V lighting signals, for example, from the back of the vehicle's headlights. The system, consisting of a Canny dongle, a wiring harness, and supported by a dedicated app (CANNY.LZR), benefits from being mountable either in your vehicle's engine compartment for faster and easier installation or inside the vehicle itself. Bluetooth synchronization and over-the-air updates further enhance the system's user-friendliness and installation speed.

The dongle consists of an automotive-standard Molex connector, ensuring a fully waterproof solution according to IP68. Integrated design elements and included cable ties simplify installation. While engine compartment placement is preferable for ease of installation, this depends on the specific location of the CAN Hi/CAN Lo cables in each vehicle.

Connection to the vehicle's CAN bus is made via the included wiring harness, with blue (CAN Hi) and yellow (CAN Lo) wires supplied with automotive-grade heat-shrink crimp connectors for waterproof connections. The harness also includes a fused positive battery terminal and a ground wire. Additionally, there are four output wires, each programmable to respond to various inputs such as high beams, parking lights, ignition, reverse gear, etc., and compatible with all our vehicle kits (provided the required output is >1 Amp).

Activation, synchronization, and ongoing updates for your Canny Dongle are accessed via the app. After gaining full access using your device's unique serial number and PIN, users can access installation instructions for their vehicle before pairing the device and assigning and testing the various lighting functions. Updates, for example, after vehicle modifications, can also be performed via Bluetooth.
